statistics fun
In Ms. Cooper's classes, students used their block as the representative sample to make predictions for the entire 7th grade population. After all 7th grade students were surveyed, data was collected to compare their predictions to the actual results obtained from the survey. The students then used the 7th grade students at KMS as the representative sample to make predictions for all of the 7th grade students in Clayton County Public Schools. This project gave students the opportunity to apply what they learned to understand and solve real –world problems. MGSE7.SP.1 Understand that statistics can be used to gain information about a population by examining a sample of the population; generalizations about a population from a sample are valid only if the sample is representative of that population. Understand that random sampling tends to produce representative samples and support valid inferences. |
